Yellowstone National Park
The Yellowstone National Park is home to the third largest hot spring in the World. You might wonder why should you visit the third largest one, not the first. Well, there’s a very good reason for that. See, the first two might be bigger, but this one is special. It’s called the Grand Prismatic Spring and it’s rainbow colored. This hot spring is multicolored thanks to microorganisms called archaea that can be found in the microbial mats that form on the edges of water. The colors themselves change from season to season, depending on the temperature of the water. In the summer the hot spring is usually orange and yellow, and in the winter it’s mostly green.
